Collaborative law & mediation
Collaborative Law enables couples to work with each other and their lawyers as a four-way team to reach agreement on the issues that matter most to them. The aim is for parties to have an understanding of each other's needs and to focus on finding a fair solution for themselves and their children. It is suitable for couples who want to have the opportunity to have a working relationship with their former partner in making decisions for now and into the future.
Contested Court proceedings are kept out of the process, except for agreed divorce proceedings and obtaining a financial order by consent. The lawyers agree at the outset not to represent the parties in Court if the negotiations break down and are totally committed to helping them find a solution through this process. We have skilled collaborative lawyers to help you and provide you with further information.
Some of our lawyers are also trained mediators. In mediation, the mediator adopts an impartial role and works with a couple to help them resolve problems arising from the breakdown of their relationship. Our in-house mediation service is available to people who have already engaged a solicitor to legally represent them.
