At Gardner Leader we know that moving house can be a stressful and frustrating experience – we have all done it ourselves! Your choice of solicitor is therefore extremely important.
As solicitors we have a duty to be honest and straightforward. We are independent of any financial institution or any other interest – in fact we may be the only truly independent advisers you meet throughout the home moving process. Moving home is not just about getting through the front door. You will need practical and independent advice about many things – e.g. tax liabilities, insurance, the legal implications of joint ownership and whether you should make or update your will.
Our role is to help you with a service which is fast efficient and cost effective. You will find us both understanding and approachable.
Accessibility
We have two offices in Newbury and Thatcham. Our Newbury office is situated in the Market Place. Our Thatcham Office is in the Broadway. Parking facilities are close by and the office operates direct dial telephone and e mail. We are open 9 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday and do not close for lunch. Our Conveyancers are happy to see you at pre-arranged appointments during normal office hours.
Information
Communication between everyone involved in your move is very important. We will liaise with the estate agents and the other solicitors involved in the transaction and will keep you informed of developments either by phone, letter or e mail.
We will send copies of documents we receive and explain what they mean in clear language that you will understand. We will explain the procedures involved and the steps you should take.
Personal Service
We would like you to use Gardner Leader for all your legal services and to recommend us to family and friends. The goodwill of our clients enables us to thrive as a business.
You can instruct a solicitor of your choice or who has been recommended to you or you will be assigned to a particular solicitor who will deal with your move personally. You will be given direct line telephone numbers and e mail to the solicitor and his or her assistants.
When you call you will receive an instant update from people who have personal knowledge of your file. We aim to reply to all correspondence within 48 hours and to reply to all e mails the same day.

Expertise
We have invested in a computerised case management system to ensure that your matter will be dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible. Our solicitors deal only with property matters therefore have a great deal of expertise and experience in resolving the problems which may develop throughout your transaction.
Cost
We appreciate that it is important for you to budget accurately for your move. We can provide immediate quotations for any transaction and will be happy to confirm these either by e mail, or in writing. You can also obtain a quotation from our e quote system which will provide you with a comprehensive and itemised quotation for our services.
