Gardner Leader host private viewing of unique exhibition

Gardner Leader solicitors’ Newbury-office was the venue for a private viewing of the artwork of a leading textile artist recently, allowing attendees to inspect a unique exhibition at close-quarters.

This invitation-only event took place over two evenings and  exhibited the wall-hangings of Betty Fraser Myerscough who has lectured on embroidery and weaving across the country and has now worked as a freelance textile artist for 13 years. Featured was a selection of work that Betty has produced over the past ten years.

The exhibition was a great success with visitors keen to discuss the displays with the artist, who was present on both evenings. The wall-hangings that were on display were often inspired by an idea sparked off by an event or observation which gradually evolved through images in layers printed on to fabric as well as through the use of dyes and stencils. Other pieces drew upon topical and personal experience, all of which were of huge interest to the attendees.

Commenting on the success of the exhibition, Christopher Felton, Dispute Resolution Partner at Gardner Leader said: “It has been brilliant to be here on both evenings soaking up the enthusiasm and interest in the exhibition. Gardner Leader was very happy to host this event and help to promote Betty’s work which is undoubtedly of a very high standard. I look forward to hosting similar successful events in the future.”

Betty Fraser Myerscough’s work has been sold to education authorities, the Embroiderer’s Guild, Glasgow Art Gallery and private collectors in England, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, USA, Kuwait, Switzerland and Thailand. All of the pieces that were on show at Gardner Leader last week will remain hung in the offices for the next 6 months and are available for purchase.
