GL 125 Stories – Swings & Smiles

Tell us about Swings & Smiles

Swings & Smiles based in Thatcham provides support, friendship and a place to play for children with special needs and their families. It offers a unique environment where the whole family feels supported and where they can spend quality time together. Their services include play sessions, sibling support and outreach across Berkshire.

How long have Swings & Smiles known the firm and how have we worked with you?

Gardner Leader chose Swings & Smiles as their charity of the year in summer 2018. The team was really creative in how they chose to support our charity, and raised an amazing £7166.70 for us through all their hard work. Their fundraising included a fantastic quiz night, a ‘Will Week’ where all money made through wills was donated to Swings & Smiles, and of course their brilliant ‘Bike Off, Bake Off’ challenge.

One member of the team even climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and raised over £1000 for our charity. As well as their fundraising efforts, Gardner Leader also supported us through voluntary work, helping us to complete some essential maintenance tasks at the centre, and gave us some free social media advice. They did all of this with great enthusiasm and huge smiles on their faces.

All of this support was very valuable to us as a small charity, and the team at Swings & Smiles really enjoyed the positive relationships we created with everyone at Gardner Leader over the year. When we were approached to nominate them for a Local Business Charity Award it was a no brainer, and we were so thrilled when they were shortlisted as finalists for their efforts. It was a really well deserved recognition of the time and effort that went into the partnership.
