Joanna Bullard – Partner Q&A

Joanna qualified in 1998 and joined Gardner Leader in 2016 having previously worked for regional heavyweight firms in Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

We asked one of our newest Partner Joanna a series of questions to get to know her better –

What made you study Law?

I watched too many legal dramas in the 1990s like Ally McBeal!

What has been your career highlight?

Completing a multi-million pound refinancing deal on behalf of a large lending consortium the day my then firm when our computer network was switched off and we had to fax the completion documents to the other side and close the deal using only a laptop! Highly stressful but huge sense of achievement afterwards.

How has Gardner Leader helped you in your career development?

The partnership enables staff to become involved in various aspects of the firm at all levels and for me, that has been by taking a leading role within the compliance team which means that my role is varied and not solely focused on fee-earning.

What makes Gardner Leader special to you?

There is a great family-friendly feel about the firm despite its recent growth which I have not experienced that often in previous firms I have worked at.

Who would you most like to step into the shoes of for a day?

Seona, because she is always cheery and is very funny!

Do you have a favourite quote you stand by?

Live life to the full so there is no room for regrets.

If you could do anything other than being a Lawyer, what would you be and why?

A psychologist, because I am interested in learning about people and understanding their different personality traits.

What is a random fact about yourself?

My party-trick at university was palm reading.
