Parliament confirms increase in the cap on a weeks’ pay for statutory redundancy calculation purposes


Parliament has confirmed that the cap on a weeks’ pay for the purposes of the statutory redundancy calculation will increase to £538 from £525 from 6 April 2020. This means the maximum statutory redundancy payment is now £16,140.

In addition, the cap on the maximum compensation award for unfair dismissal is increased to £88,519 (or 12 months’ pay, whichever is the lower amount).
