Simon Fisher – Partner Q&A

Simon Fisher joined Gardner Leader in January 2018 having worked as a specialist family law solicitor for over 10 years.

Simon is a member of Resolution and the Law Society Family Law Accreditation Scheme. He studied Law at the University of Wales, Swansea and qualified as a Solicitor in 2007. He also has a Master’s Degree in Sports Law and Practice.

We asked one of our newest Partners Simon a series of questions to get to know him better –

What has been your career highlight?

Aside from being made Partner, I would say helping a lady with two small children seek a number of substantive orders against an abusive husband with a number of cultural issues to overcome. We have very extensive orders to protect her and the children along with dealing with the financial matters so she and the children could move on.

Do you have any advice for people wanting to build their career in Law and potentially work towards Partnership?

Keep the faith, work hard and be nice to people!

How has Gardner Leader helped you in your career development?

The reason I came to GL was to progress my career and I feel that I have achieved that here. It is a great firm that helps to develop your career into whatever you want it to be.

Who would you most like to step into the shoes of for a day?

Sam Pinder – an entertaining day to say the least!

If you could do anything other than being a Lawyer, what would you be and why?

Easy – professional golfer. I came relatively close but not close enough

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be?

Speaking a foreign language. I have tried French and Japanese during my travels there, however, none of it really stuck!

What is a random fact about yourself?

I shared an interesting night out at university with football legend, Lee Trundle involving some games of pool and a series of forfeits! I also used to play junior golf against some former and current Ryder Cup players.
