Why did you decide to choose law as your career path?
I decided to pursue a career in law because it brought together a combination of my interests and values. I particularly enjoyed English and Sociology whilst studying for my A-Levels, as they developed my ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and understand how society functions – all of which are essential skills when working in the legal profession!
During a work experience placement at a local solicitor’s firm, I saw firsthand how law can be used to make a real difference in people’s lives. I’ve always been a stickler for rules and order, and I find the structure of the legal system both challenging and rewarding to work in.
Most importantly, I enjoy helping people, which is why I chose to specialise in Wills Probate and Estate Planning. It allows me to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community with compassion, respect, and legal expertise.
What specific legal services can you and the team assist with in Swindon?

This includes drafting wills tailored to individual circumstances, setting up Lasting Powers of Attorney for both financial and health decisions, and advising on inheritance tax planning. Whether you’re planning ahead or dealing with a recent bereavement, I offer clear, professional support every step of the way.
How could estate planning benefit me and my family?
Estate planning can offer significant benefits to you and your family, both now and in the future. Some key ways it can help are:
- Protecting your assets – estate planning ensures that your savings, property, and other valuable assets are managed and passed on in accordance with your specific wishes.
- Avoids family disputes – By clearly outlining who should receive what, estate planning reduces the risk of disagreements among your loved ones after you’ve passed away.
- Minimises Inheritance Tax – a well-structured estate plan can help reduce the amount of inheritance tax your estate has to pay. Tools like trusts and lifetime gifts can be used to pass on wealth more tax efficiently.
- Provides for vulnerable beneficiaries – if you have children, elderly parents, or family members with disabilities, estate planning can help you make specific arrangements to ensure they’re cared for financially.
- Gives you peace of mind – knowing that everything is in place (Wills, LPAs, Trusts etc) offers peace of mind that your family will be supported and your wishes respected, even in difficult times.
What steps should I take when planning my estate?
Planning your estate involves several important steps to ensure that your affairs are managed according to your wishes, and your chosen legal representatives are able to act.
Some practical steps you can take are:
- Take inventory of your assets – list everything you own to ensure you have considered all of the assets in your estate.
- Consider your beneficiaries – think about who you would want to inherit your estate, what each person should receive, and when you would like them to receive it.
- Make a will – this is the foundation of your Estate plan. Using a solicitor can help ensure you have considered all of your options and will ensure the document is legally valid.
- Consider setting up trusts – this can help reduce inheritance tax, protect assets for young or vulnerable beneficiaries, and control when and how assets are distributed.
- Plan for inheritance tax – it is important to understand the thresholds and allowances, and how these might apply to your estate.
- Set up Lasting Powers of Attorney – this will enable you to give someone you trust the legal authority to act on your behalf in relation to your property and financial affairs and health and welfare.
- Review your pension and life insurance beneficiaries – make sure your nominated beneficiaries are up to date. These do not usually follow the instructions in your Will.
- Store documents safely – keep your Will, LPA, and any trust documents in a safe place. Make sure your executors and attorneys know where to locate them.
- Review your estate plan regularly – Life changes; marriage, divorce, children, property purchases can all affect your plan. Review it every few years or after any major life event.
