Settlement Agreements

Increasingly, you may choose to offer staff a Settlement Agreement when their employment is ended. This will enable you to agree a termination package with an employee, in return for them waiving any legal claims which they would otherwise be entitled to bring against you.

In order to form a binding settlement, several conditions must be met by a Settlement Agreement, including that the employee in question takes independent legal advice before signing it.
