Wills, Probate and Estate Planning
Elizabeth advises on a broad range of private client matters, including the preparation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, the administration of estates, and more complex matters involving trusts, tax and succession planning.
She has particular experience in advising on inheritance tax planning, helping to ensure clients’ estates are structured as tax efficiently as possible while protecting wealth for themselves and future generations. She is known for delivering clear, tailored advice with empathy, supporting clients through what are often sensitive and challenging circumstances.
Elizabeth is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the Association of Lifetime Lawyers, a national organisation dedicated to provide support for vulnerable and older clients and their families.
Work Highlights
- Administering a highly complex intestacy estate involving a bereaved minor trust, cross-border elements and guardianship issues.
- Dealing with sensitivity and pragmatism to ensure the smooth administration of a large estate where the family were at war with each other, including post-death variations.
- Advising on and preparing suitable deeds of variation to achieve optimal inheritance tax position post-death and to assist with succession planning for the family.
- Working closely with trustees in the administration of a discretionary trust, preparing deed of appointment and retirement of trustees and advising on making a vulnerable person election for a vulnerable beneficiary.
- Preparing a suitable deed of variation post-death to correct a situation where a major beneficiary had inadvertently forfeited their entitlement under the Will.
