Matthew is a Paralegal in the Dispute Resolution Team.
He joined Gardner Leader in 2022, after graduating from the University of Oxford with a 2:1 in BA Jurisprudence. Matthew is part of the Commercial Litigation team, where he has experience in assisting with a number of cases, including:
- Defending a multi-jurisdiction alleged fraud claim valued at over USD 1 billion.
- Acting for the Claimant hotelier in an ICC arbitration in a breach of contract and/or fiduciary duties claim, against a global hotel management chain.
- A high-value partnership dispute concerning the alleged diversion and use of partnership assets both prior to and following dissolution of the partnership.
- A multi-party derivative claim arising from the alleged expropriation of assets from an investment fund.
Matthew also has experience of all stages of litigation concerning trusts, wills and estates. He has previously assisted extensively with will validity challenges (including allegations of fraud, undue influence and lack of testamentary capacity), claims of proprietary estoppel and misappropriation of assets, and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. He has also worked on a wide range of litigation in the Court of Protection.
