Katie specialises in complex, multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes, with a focus on civil fraud, commodities actions and high-value international arbitration, including trade arbitrations (Gafta) and matters at interstate level.
She was listed as a Rising Star for Commercial Litigation in the 2022 Legal 500 rankings and as Up and Coming in the 2024 and 2025 editions of Chambers and Partners. Clients describe her as “diligent, thorough and careful” and “always on top of things”.
Knowledge & Innovation
As Gardner Leader’s Knowledge & Innovation Partner, Katie leads the firm’s knowledge management strategy and innovation initiatives. She explores how emerging technologies, including Generative AI, may be deployed to enhance the way the firm works and ensure clients receive a consistently excellent service.
Work Highlights
- Defending challenges to arbitral awards issued under Sections 68 and 69 of the Arbitration Act 1996. The challenges were dismissed by the Commercial Court.
- Successfully acting for a claimant hotelier in an ICC arbitration against a global hotel management chain, including allegations of negligence, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty.
- Successfully defending a fraud and breach of contract claim alleging the misappropriation of a port facility and other corporate assets in Moldova.
- Contributor to GaftaWorld (Gafta’s trade publication), MBL Seminars, Practical Law, the Law Society Gazette and LexisNexis.
