Commercial Disputes
Will has a broad commercial disputes practice, with particular focus on shareholder, company and contentious insolvency disputes. He has significant experience advising on matters before the High Court, including appellate experience before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
Work Highlights
- Acted for a respondent to claims in wrongful trading, misfeasant trading and misfeasance in Re BHS Group Ltd ([2022] EWHC 2205 (Ch), [2024] EWHC 1417 (Ch));
- Acted for the applicant in Re Valorem Holdings Ltd [2023] EWHC 2625 (Ch), who successfully obtained urgent ex parte relief in support of a s.994 unfair prejudice petition, including orders for the removal and appointment of directors, as well as delivery up, imaging and passport orders;
- Acted for respondents to three unfair prejudice petitions and a related derivative claim concerning the conduct of companies owning/managing a group of UK hotels (Re Pedersen (Thameside) Ltd [2017] EWHC 3406 (Ch) and Re G&G Properties Ltd [2019] EWCA Civ 2046);
- Acted for the petitioner in a s.994 unfair prejudice petition concerning the conduct of firm of trade mark attorneys;
- Successfully obtained and enforced judgment for the purchaser of numerous special purpose vehicle companies owning public houses in North London, including by way of a range of injunctive relief (a freezing order in effect prior to and following judgment, as well as further relief against third party Chabra respondents) ([2015] UKSC 78, [2014] EWCA Civ 14); and
- Acted for a former CEO and minority shareholder of an international media and software company in s.994 unfair prejudice proceedings and a related counterclaim for breach of director’s duties.
