Penny is a Partner in the Wills, Probate and Estate Planning team.
Penny qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and has wide-ranging experience of acting for individuals in relation to their Wills, estate planning, trusts, powers of attorney, probate and inheritance tax planning. Penny also has a particular interest in philanthropy and charity law.
Wills, Probate and Estate Planning
As a member of the Inheritance Protection Team, Penny helps her clients with estate planning, including Wills and inheritance tax advice; mental capacity issues and Court of Protection matters; preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney; establishing and advising on trusts; dealing with probate and administration of estates.
Penny regularly contributes articles to journals and speaks at seminars and other events on these issues.
Charity Law
Penny advises charities on all aspects of charity law, including compliance with the requirements of the Charities Act and the expectations of the Charity Commission.
Penny also helps people wanting to establish new charities, with advice about the appropriate structure for the charity, drafting governing documents, complying with the public benefit requirements, and applying to the Charity Commission for registration.
Her wide-ranging experience includes forming new charities; advising charity trustees on their duties and responsibilities; dealing with permanent endowment; drafting policies and advising on governance matters; handling constitutional changes and mergers.
Penny provides charity trustee training, contributes articles to journals and speaks at seminars and other events.
